Classification and features
Distinguish two-way and four-way pallets, the design of the first provides the possibility of input of the fork grip only from two counter parties, the second allow to enter the loader pitchfork from four parties.
Pallets can be also single-decked and dvukhnastilny, that is having the platform for cargo placement only with one or on both sides.
Pallets are subdivided on one-time which are, as a rule, utilized after use, and multiturnover, reused.
Pallets are manufactured of the tree, metal or plastic. Attempts to use salvage for production of pallets are made. The empty pallet weighs 15 — 21 kg. The majority of pallets can easily bear the load of 1000 kg.
Dimensions of one-time pallets usually are not regulated. The sizes of multiturnover pallets, requirements to their durability and the designations applied on them are standardized. In Europe the standard pallet EUR (in Russia called by "evropalety") which has the mm sizes 800×1200×144 is usually used. It is used, mainly, for retail trade, its size is determined by internal dimensions of the trucks performing deliveries from warehouses to retail trade institutions. The ISO 6780 standard defines pallets of six sizes, in particular: 1000×1200×144 mm (ISO2, the so-called "Finnish pallet" as this standard is distributed in Finland).
The problem of phytosanitary control of wooden scorches
There is the known problem at the customs clearance of the loads arriving from abroad on wooden pallets: for import of such loads it is required to pass paid phytosanitary control on border. Plastic and metal pallets are deprived of this shortcoming, such control is not necessary to them.
